In a friendly and passionate dialogue, doctor Augustin Masset and writer Fabrice Toussaint come face to face, the one with the end of his patients’ lives, the other with his own destiny. Costa-Gavras
Born in Iraia (Greece) in 1933. A graduate in Film from the IDHEC, he began his career as an assistant to filmmakers such as René Clair, René Clement, Jacques Demy, Marcel Ophüls and Jean Becker. In 1965, he directed his first feature film, ‘The Sleeping Car Murder’, followed by works like ‘Z’ (1969, winner of two Oscars and of the Jury Prize and Best Actor award at Cannes), ‘State of Siege’ (1972, winner of a Bafta), ‘Missing’ (1982, Palme d’Or at Cannes and Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay) and ‘Music Box’ (Golden Bear at Berlin). In 1986 he participated for the first time in the Valladolid Festival, with ‘Family Council’, and returned to Seminci in 2002 with ‘Amen’, a year before the festival dedicated a retrospective and a monograph to his figure. In 2005 he opened Seminci with ‘The Ax’ and in 2019 he received the Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Festival. He has been president of the Cinémathèque Française since 2007.
